Stella Lain is a self professed Country Barbie otherwise known as a Country Pop artist from Norwich and released her debut single ‘Sun-Kissed” 2nd May 2025; the first single of her 5 track EP being released this Autumn. She has also released her second single “Boy Bye” in July 2025.
Stella explains how she chose this song to be her debut single because “it shows my personality perfectly!” It’s fun, a little cute and country!”
“Sun-Kissed is a song I wrote about a Summer Love, and how the thought of it makes you feel warm and nostalgic for the summer months with golden glowing memories and the feel of your skin being kissed by the sun.”

“Summer breeze
Blowing through my hair
You and me
Without a care
Turn up the radio
Feet on the dash
Hand out the window
As you drive real fast
Into my heart.”
The song starts with the first verse portraying wonderful imagery of a Summer breeze running through our hair, on a road trip with a loved one, a stereotypical romantic image. The song does however lay out a recurring theme throughout the song, connection with nature. This is evident with the touch of the breeze racing through the hair and having the hand out the window, equally connecting with the breeze.
“We spelt our names in heart we wrote in the sand
And as we counted the stars you reached for my hand
And Looking at you boy I can't resist
This love is growing, it's glowing, its golden
It's sun-kissed.”
The chorus further captures the romantic storyline and connection to nature by drawing names in a heart in the sand. The romantic and nature vibes continue even after sunset as even looking at the stars is synonymous of a love scene, but also having that sense of connection to nature and to ourselves. That ability to contextualise yourself and your troubles against the world. “The love is growing, it’s glowing, it’s golden” is not only a direct reference to what we’re feeling in our heart in that moment, but also reference to the loved up glow we radiate, similar to being “sun-kissed”.
“Bare feet dancing in the grass
Peach iced tea
You trace pictures on my back
Trying to brush sand off my legs
But I lose my balance
Fall into you
And we start laughing
Can we just stay like this all summer long.”
The bare foot reference further enhances the connection to nature as does brushing off sand from their legs. The verse also grows with romantic references such as tracing pictures on our backs, and falling into a loved one’s arms.
The song returns to the chorus to emphasise how deep the love goes, not only for their partner but for nature too.
“Like my skin, so bronze by the sun
Melted in the heat of it all
Confessions of your love at my window babe
Like the sun set on the beach
Sky full of lilac and peach
You put your arm round me
I'm falling perfectly.”
This verse again references how our skin appears differently, with an enhanced glow, either as result of the sun, or the radiance of being in love. Imagery of the sun setting is synonymous with romance, yet it is also relating back to the other theme of nature. Much like the warmth of being in the embrace of a loved one, the sun setting is also giving a warm hug and a tender kiss goodnight.
The song concludes by revisiting the chorus and uses the repetition of the three words, growing, glowing and golden to further build the imagery and make it more memorable.
“Sun-Kissed” was released 2nd May 2025 and is available to download and stream from all music platforms, along with her second single “Boy Bye” 18 July 2025. Stella also tells me that she has another single expected out 9th September 2025 called “Country Girl”.
